At Home Body Weight Workout

I don’t know where you live, but here in Chicago it has been straight up COLD the last few days.  And I don’t know about you, but shockingly frigid weather makes getting up and getting to the gym a lot tougher than it already is.  Knowing it’s -11 with the wind chill ON TOP OF the fact that the sun isn’t up and knowing there’s snow on the ground is rough.  So some days, I resort to working out in my basement to eliminate one trip out into the winter tundra.  In addition to my favorite workout DVD’s (this Jillian Michaels one is no joke), I do have a treadmill in my basement along with some hand weights and bands, but since I know a lot of you do not have those things, I’m going to share a workout you can do without any equipment.

As I’ve mentioned before, physical activity is such an important part of living a healthy and balanced life.  The key is finding what type of movement works for you.  Your form of exercise, while not always, should be enjoyable.  It should be something that you feel good doing and feel even better about after doing it.  Going to the gym isn’t for everyone just like running isn’t for everyone.  Take the time to try out some different forms of exercise and movement until you find something that feels right.  So many gyms offer free trial periods and free classes, you just have to ask!  Get creative and try things you don’t necessarily see yourself doing…who know…it may just be your new favorite hobby.  There are hundreds of options, kickboxing classes, yoga, pilates, zumba, running clubs, rock climbing, swimming, biking, crossfit, karate….I guarantee there’s something you love somewhere out there!

Let’s move on to the workout, shall we?  Here we go:

12 Minute AMRAP (as many reps as possible)

**2 Minute Rest**

12 Minute AMRAP

There you have it!  A killer workout without any equipment.  The best part?  You are done in under 30 minutes!  Do you have any workouts you do at home?  I always love having these types of workouts for cold days as well as traveling…please share any that you use!
