Are you all ready for Christmas? Did you finish your shopping? I haven’t. My husband and I are in Phoenix to spend Christmas with his family. We arrived yesterday, so after this post is written we are off to the store to finish up with some last minute gifts! Our three nephews are here too, so it should be a super fun Christmas morning. Just something about the excitement in the kids’ eyes when they’ve realized Santa stopped by and the joy in their faces as they open their gifts…I’m really looking forward to it! Speaking of joy – I was under-joyed (yes I just made that term up) when I looked at the weather forecast and realized it’s going to be about 60 degrees the whole time we are here….I thought it was supposed to be warm in Phoenix?!? Anyshmoo…on to the main point here, smoothie bowls.
As I’m sure you’re well aware, the Holidays are definitely a time of indulgent food and more than usual sweats which can leave you feeling pretty weighed down. My favorite way to start a morning after a day of indulging in Holiday fare is with a smoothie bowl! It’s such an easy way to cram a million nutrients into your body while rehydrating and the best part is that it’s SUPER easy and doesn’t take very long at all. There are endless possibilities of flavor combinations…but this one is one of my favs!
- 1 Cup Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk
- 1 Scoop Grass-fed Chocolate Protein Powder
- 1/3 Frozen Banana
- 1/2 Cup Frozen Kale or Spinach
- 1/3 Cup Frozen Berries I use blueberry or strawberry
- Dash Cinnamon
- 1 Tbsp Chia Seeds
- 1 Tbsp Hemp Seeds
- 1/4 Cup Toppings of your choice
- 1 Handful Ice Cubes
- Toss all ingredients (except hemp seeds and toppings) into a blender and blend until smooth.
- Pour mixture into a bowl and top with Hemp Seeds and toppings of your choice. Some of my favorites are Kind Re-nola, banana chips and Organic Honey O's.
